Objective: Establish the War on Drugs Service Medal as an official award of the United States Armed Forces via Executive Order.
Summary: The War on Drugs is overlooked as a “low-intensity conflict”, but America’s second longest war has killed more civilians than all other wars combined, and counting. Moreover, since 1775 approximately 1.4 million service members have been killed in action — while over 1 million civilians have died from overdose since 1999 alone. The further damage from addiction is incalculable.
The War on Drugs Service Medal honors the duty and sacrifice of the United States Armed Forces and State Military Forces for general service in the War on Drugs from the 18th of June 1971 to present.
